How ShioCast came to be
The short version of a long frustration.
The broadcasts
Radio, the hard way
It started with shows — community radio and independent podcasts, produced with the classic toolchain: an audio router here, a recording app there, a spreadsheet to remember which window did what. Every show was an exercise in keeping the software out of the conversation.
The prototype
One window, one show
The first prototype was a promise to ourselves: everything the show needs in a single window. Mixing, recording, going live — and titles that follow the programme instead of a static line. It worked well enough that friends asked to use it.
The studio grows
Companion and Studio Link
Then the studio grew beyond the desk. Companion put the controls in your hand, Studio Link brought remote co-hosts into the room, and Dynamic Titling became the quiet feature everyone ended up loving.
Today
ShioCast
ShioCaster is now a complete broadcast studio for the Mac, with Companion on iOS and Android and ShioCast Cloud behind the scenes. Still independent, still built by the people who use it every week.
